What is the difference between a canoe and a kayak?
In a canoe a bench style or tractor style seat is in the boat for seating. When you are in a canoe your legs will be bent, much like sitting in a chair. In a kayak the seat is on the floor of the boat. In a kayak your legs will be out in front of you, with a slight bend in them so that you can put your feet on foot pegs that are in front of you.
I am really short; do I need shorter paddles for my canoe?
No. You do not need short paddles for you canoe. However, you can get short paddles if you desire to have them.
Are there different types of paddle strokes that I should learn for canoeing?
Yes, there are many different paddle strokes that are used in canoeing. Some of these strokes include: the forward stroke, the back stroke, and the pitch stroke. It is best to consult a professional instructor to learn more.
